Proverbs 3:3-4 NLT – Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
These verses talk about the importance of loyalty and kindness. We are told to keep them close and to never let them leave us – tie it around our neck and have it deep in our hearts. This would mean loyalty and kindness would be always with us and a big part of who we are. God tells us that we will have favour with Himself, other people and we will have a good reputation if we do.
Dear God, help me to be a loyal and kind person in all I do. I pray I can be loyal to You and Your Kingdom, loyal and kind to my family, at church, with my friends and to my employer. I pray I will be known as a loyal and kind person. Amen.
Luke 3:10-11 NLT – The crowds asked, “What should we do?” John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
After hearing John the Baptist speak the crowds asked what they needed to do. John said…
- If you have two shirts, give one to the poor
- If you have food, share with those in need
John was very practical in His response. The people were touched by him and knew they had to respond in some way. John told them to share what they had with others.
Notice that he didn’t say give all you have to the poor and follow Me like Jesus did to the rich young ruler (Matthew 10:17-27). He said share some of what you have.
It makes me wonder what can I share today? I wonder what you can share today? Food? Clothing? Something else?
I read this in a devotional Bible reading plan I am doing at the moment. I really like the idea of needing rest…
“Busyness often makes us feel like we’re accomplishing something important, but that feeling can be counterfeit. We often use activity to numb ourselves of our need for intimacy with God, the Giver of every good and perfect gift. We must be intentional to establish healthy boundaries around the different parts of our lives—work, family, rest, etc.—so that no one category becomes an idol in our lives.”

Romans 5:2 NLT – Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
Because we have faith in Christ we have two things we can hold on to…
- We stand in a place of undeserved privilege in God’s eyes
- We can look forward to seeing and sharing in God’s glory
Because we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) we have a new standing. We are forgiven and set free from sin (1 John 1:9). We have eternal life (John 3:16). We are co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).
I love that because of Christ’s death for our sin and because we have accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour, we HAVE a new standing with God. And we WILL share in His glory.
Let us stand with hope today and look forward to the day when we will see God face to face and share in His glory.
Be blessed today,
Psalm 121:7-8 NLT – The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
This verse gives me so much comfort. Knowing that the Lord God watches over my life gives me peace. I love that it says He watches over me as I come and go. I love that He watches over me both today and for always. As I dwell on this I am reminded of the words of David in Psalm 139 where he says, “Where can I go to escape You presence”. David knew God was always with him. This is the same for us today. God is always with us. He watches over us. He protects us. He guides us. And He will do it until He calls us home to be with Him forever.
Thank You God that You are always with us. You watch over our lives and keep us safe from all harm. Thank You that You promise to do this always. Help me to never forget I am kept safely in the palm of Your hands. Amen.
