James 1:12-15 NLT – God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. [13] And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. [14] Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. [15] These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
This passage talks about some key things we all face as Christians. We all face temptation and we all go through testing times. It has five key ideas for us today.
- God blesses us when we are patient and endure testing and temptation
- We will receive a crown of life afterwards
- God is not the one who tempts us
- Temptation comes when we are drawn away by our own desires
- This gives birth to sin and when it is allowed to grow it brings death

Dear God, please help me to be patient when I am going through testing times and temptation. I want to be strong, faithful and devoted to You always. I pray I will not be drawn away by my own sinful desires. Help me to focus on You and the crown of life you promise. Amen
