Quote to live by

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Galatians 2:20 NLT – My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 would be the main quote I try to remember and live by each day. It reminds me of three things.

1. It reminds me that my old self is gone, my new life in Christ is here, and that I need to allow Christ to live and love through me.

2. It reminds me of the hope I have in Christ. He is going to prepare a place for me and He is coming back.

3. It reminds me that Jesus did not hold anything back to save me. He gave His life for me. That is how much He loved me.

The same goes for you too. If you are trusting Jesus for your salvation, then your old life is gone and your new life is here. He can live and love others through you.

Talking about my faith

What topics do you like to discuss?

I always like discussing my faith. In particular Jesus, the Bible, salvation, following Jesus, prayer, heaven, evangelism and discipleship.

My faith in Jesus is the most important thing in my life, so it feels normal to talk about it. In situations where I cannot talk about these things, I do not really feel I can be myself. It feels like I have to wear a mask.

So what do I like to discuss? My faith in Jesus and following Him.

Accepted Jesus

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

By far the most positive change I have made in my life was to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Back in July of 1989 I realised something was missing in my life. I came to realise that was Jesus. Like the image above, I gave Jesus my heart and life. Since this time I have tried my best to follow Him daily.

If you are interested in finding out more accepting Jesus in to your life, please visit this page on my blog.

Who would I be from a book?

If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?

I would want to be one of the earlier followers of Jesus from the Bible.

I would have liked to have been present at His miracles, His sermons and the every day conversations along the road or around the camp fire.

To be present to see Lazarus raised from the dead, the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, demons caste out and Jesus walking on the water would have been priceless.

I am so thankful we have these things recorded in the pages of the Bible, but to be there would have been amazing.

So who would I be from a book? One of Jesus’ early followers.

What is my mission?

What is your mission?

This is a great question. My mission was given to me many years ago in Perth. I was doing my morning devotions and a Bible passage really jumped out at me. The passage lit up on the page like a light was shinning on it. And the words looked bigger like a magnifying glass was put over them.

The passage was 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NLT. It says…

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. [19] For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. [20] So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

This is when I felt God call me to ministry. In my heart I knew I had to tell people about Jesus and help them to follow Him. This started through my local church and several years later through PASSIONAustralia.org.

So since 1996 I have been doing my best to fulfil the mission God has given me. Some times has been in a full time role like a Pastor or a Chaplain, but mostly it has been as a Lay Preacher while working part time in secular work.

So what is my mission? I am an ambassador for Christ helping people be reconciled to Himself. I help them put the pieces of faith together to find Christ.
