Daily habits

What are your daily habits?

My daily habits revolve around three things – my faith, my family and my fitness. Below is a typical day for me.

  1. Make a coffee and sit for a bit watching Foxsports news.
  2. Do my morning devotions which consists of Bible reading and prayer.
  3. Sometimes on a weekday I like to attend church as we have a Mass at 830am.
  4. Then I come home and have breakfast.
  5. Next is a gym workout or ride depending on what day it is.
  6. Then I start my daily activities which is work around the house, both inside and out.
  7. At the end of the day my wife and I usually watch some tv together before bed.

My daily activities have changed a lot in the last year as I have retired. Before that I had to squeeze these things around work.

Luxury I cannot live without

What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?

My gym would be my luxury I could not live without. I know how much of a difference weight training has made and still makes to my life. I could not imagine being without my home gym this past 40 years of training. I love the feeling I get while I do my weight training and how I feel the rest of the week. It has been good for both my physical health and also my mental health. For me personally, it would be hard to live without.

My faith in Jesus brings me joy

Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.

My faith in Jesus brings me joy. I look to Him for help, strength and guidance. Knowing Jesus also gives me a great hope for the future. Jesus said He is going to prepare a place for us and He is coming back. There is an old saying, “No God, no peace. Know God, know peace”. I have found this to be true in my life. Knowing Jesus not only gives me peace, it gives me great joy.

Broken bones

Have you ever broken a bone?

Yes I have broken a bone. I broke my thumb when I was 13.

I was playing a game of British Bulldog at school. It is a bit like Rugby or American Football with no ball, you start at one end and run as fast as you can to the other end. There are people in the middle who tackle you.

As you can imagine, it is pretty rough and physical with no referees. We had so many injuries that the school band us from playing.

The funny thing about my thumb was that it was sore for a few days before I went to the doctor. Then the x-rays showed a break.

As it was my right hand I could not write at school for a bit because of the splint and then a cast. As I swan for my Rheumatoid Arthritis they gave me a water proof cast.

At the time I thought it was cool. I could still swim and I got out of some school work. As painful as it was, as a 13 year old I thought it was pretty cool.

Quote to live by

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Galatians 2:20 NLT – My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 would be the main quote I try to remember and live by each day. It reminds me of three things.

1. It reminds me that my old self is gone, my new life in Christ is here, and that I need to allow Christ to live and love through me.

2. It reminds me of the hope I have in Christ. He is going to prepare a place for me and He is coming back.

3. It reminds me that Jesus did not hold anything back to save me. He gave His life for me. That is how much He loved me.

The same goes for you too. If you are trusting Jesus for your salvation, then your old life is gone and your new life is here. He can live and love others through you.
