Wait on the Lord

Matthew 5:4 TPT – “What delight comes to you when you wait upon the Lord! For you will find what you long for.”

In our fast paced world we can forget to have time in silence to wait upon the Lord. We all get too busy at times and time alone with God gets squeezed out. But when we take that time our lives are so much better. When we sit alone with God and wait on Him, we find our strength is renewed, the answers we are wanting come and we experience God’s peace and presence in a deeper way. How about you? How is your time alone with God going at the moment?

Prayer

Dear God, please help me to spend time alone with You. I want to sit in Your presence and just be with You. Please give me the desire to do this and help me to slow down to have this time. I thank You that the Bible says that we will find what we long for when we take this time. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.

Health and well-being?

What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

This is an interesting question as the WordPress prompt today. I have a health and well-being routine that I have followed for many years.

1. Devotions – I start my days, or at least in the first hour, with prayer, Bible reading and a devotional like Our Daily Bread. This keeps me in tune with God.

2. Exercise – I exercise six days a week in a combination of weights and cycling. This helps me to keep trim and fit and also gives me a lot of enjoyment and relaxation.

3. Work – I make sure I work less days than I have days off. I work three days a week now and have four days off. I find as I get older this helps me to feel well and more rested.

4. Family – I find spending time at home with my family helps me to relax and wind down. My wife and I talk a lot and I really enjoy time with our kids and their partners too.

5. Alone – As someone who is quite introverted I need my alone time too. I talk and listen a lot as a part of my job, so I get full easily and time alone helps me to order my thoughts and chill out.

These are my current things that help my health and well-being. They have remained fairly constant over the years with some slight changes. I guess for me it is a case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Kings Park prayer

I had to go down to Perth this week to do some training for my role as Chaplain. As it was a few days training they booked me in to a hotel near Kings Park.

The great thing about it is that I worked opposite Kings Park for 11 years and every lunch time I would go on a prayer walk. It became a real place of spending time with God for me.

Last week I managed to do three prayer walks after my days of training. It was so nice to connect with God in a place where I have met with Him so many times in the past. It was really refreshing.

The picture above was taken at the top end of the park, it is the place where you over look the city and the river that runs through it. It is a great place to sit and just chill out for me.

How about you? Have you got a special spot where you can go and spend time with God? A place where you can go and relax with Him? Kings Park is definitely a special place for me.
