Evangelism tip #1 – Prepare a Testimony

All of us as Christians want to share our faith in Jesus with others. Sometimes though it can be a bit scary and we are not sure what to say.

Over the next few posts I want to share my top three tips that have helped me to lead a number of people to Jesus is my personal evangelism efforts.

Tip #1 – Prepare a Testimony

A testimony can bring the Bible to life. I have found that people love hearing stories of how God has done great things for you. When I share about my testimony I touch on three main areas. These three things really help me to structure my story and how Jesus’ story impacted and changed my life.

My life before Christ – I share things like how I felt, my illness, what sort of things I was in to, my upbringing and the sense of emptiness I had inside. These things set the scene.

My conversion – I then share how I came to Jesus. I talk about how I was feeling in the year before coming to Jesus, the people who helped me and the story of Jesus coming to die on the cross for me.

How my life has changed – In this final section I share how knowing Jesus personally has changed my whole life and outlook. I talk about the love, acceptance, hope, joy and purpose I now feel inside.

You can also share things some of the things that God has done for you. I actually have several short testimonies that I share with people depending on the situation.

My favourite Christian app

Today I thought I would post about my favourite Christian app I use on my devices. It is the Vision Media app.

I have been using this app for about ten years I guess. I find it really good that I can use it on my phone, in the car and on my tablet.

As you can see from the image above there are four main radio channels. The main Vision channel which has music, news, interviews and devotionals. This is also what plays on the traditional radio. It is 88FM where I live.

The other three channels are V180 channel which is more for teens and young adults, the kids channel for pre-teens, and the worship channel which is worship music with minimal talking.

The app also has a news section that includes normal news and Christian news from around. It has a podcast section with very well known speakers.

There is also a Bible reading section called Soul Food which has a lectionary style reading plan that you can read, or listen to. It has an Old Testament, a Psalm, a New Testament and a Gospel reading.

Australia’s first gym church

I just watched this really good video about Gym Church. It is Australia’s first church that meets in a gym. They work out together, then share stories, the Bible and pray.

It is about getting physically fit and spiritually fit. There is also a big focus on building godly relationships where you can share your struggles and your successes.

Proof that God is living in us

In 1 John 4 is talks about the importance of loving one another as Christians. It also talks about some ways that shows God is living in us.

1 John 4:11-16 NLT
[11] Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. [12] No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. [13] And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. [14] Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. [15] All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. [16] We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

In this passage we see four things that show God is with us and living in us.

  1. If we love one another, God lives in us (v12)
  2. If we have His Spirit, He is in us (v13)
  3. If we declare Jesus is God’s Son, God lives in us (v15)
  4. If we live in love, God lives in us (v16)

This passage shows us how important it is to love one another and it shows us how important it is to believe in Jesus as God’s Son.

When we do these things, God lives in us by His Spirit.

Keep your focus right in 2026

In 2026 I feel in my heart that focussing on the right things will be more important than ever for the follower of Jesus.

Today I want to share three things that we should focus on this year to help us keep on track. I want to give us three passages from the Bible that we can hold on to.

Focus on things that are right

Philippians 4:8 – And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Focus on heavenly things above

Colossians 3:1-2 – Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. [2] Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Focus on Jesus who perfects our faith

Hebrews 12:1b-2 – Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. [2] We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

In an ever changing world with so much negative news on TV and social media, I think it is important to focus on the good things that God asks. The verses above tells us to focus on things that are worthy of praise.

It is just important for us to focus on the right things if we are to fulfil our God given purposes. Choosing to focus on noble things, on things of heaven, and on Jesus will help keep us on track.
